FrontHunter, I've read this thread and it is very interesting. I'm a tech with 40+ years of experience and looking for employment at present. I spent the last three years working in a bigger lab which had their fair share of inadequate and unacceptable designs from the big outsources. I have...
Thanks Corona! I can remember twenty-some years ago when I had my lab thinking to myself, "why would I want to press ceramic when I can produce a beautiful porcelain jacket crown on a platinum foil matrix?":):):):)
Which of these is easier to complete and why?
−5(1 − 5x) + 5(−8x − 2) = −4x −...
Hi Corona,
Think about all of the things that can go wrong throughout the lost-wax process. There's spacer thickness on the die, instability of wax, expansion of investment, risk of porosity, risk of miscast, and a cast-able margin thickness in the tens of microns. And you need twice as much...
You are correct Bob. However, there is a way and it's not too difficult either.
We at Atlantic are former lab owners and technicians, and sons of a 50-year retired CDT Don Mappin. So we understand full well how difficult and worrisome trusting someone with thousands of dollars worth of valuable...
John, I believe there is a web portal. Either my brother Scott or cousin Mike will help you get your account setup. Their contact info is below.

SM50 is currently priced at $23.47 / gram or $36.49 / dwt; average crown weight 3.7 grams or 2.3 dwt
SM2+ is currently priced at $10.39 / gram or $6.68 / dwt; average crown weight 2.7 grams or 1.7 dwt
You guys are too much..:)...we can measure in either...personally, I prefer Troy for precious, but around here I'm outnumbered. And considering our customers and what works best for most of their systems, grams was selected. But enough about the scale of measure, how about a couple of crowns?
I know I was asked about other alloy choices for Strategy Milling's milled full contour crowns. The second alloy is here! We had so many requests for a 2% Au alloy that we wasted no time in producing pucks of this type. The price per/gram currently is $10.48 and the normal $40 Milling fee...
I'm just curious here.
I know that all-metal restorations are going out of style, in the U.S anyway, but when they are prescribed by your clients, what alloy are they requesting? What types are you offering?
Another question I have about the new 2%Au & palladium alloys that are out there...
OK, so a few folks have commented about the fact that companies are casting a printed or milled wax pattern. I have just one question, given all the variables in all available and affordable choices of manufacturing a crown-
Why would I want to cast it if I can mill it for less?
When I think...
First, we don't lose material. We recover every bit of it and recycle it, quickly.
Second, you are correct that making a square is easier, but making a square without porosity is not easier. These pucks have no porosity.
The other questions you have I will need to pass on to my brother Scott.
No problem Riley, yes, I get it. I'm happy to answer any questions I can and call in reinforcements when I can't.
The name of the company is Strategy Milling. It is powered by Atlantic Precious Metal Refining. It's a subsidiary of the refinery. The crowns are running around 3.5 grams per on...
