What is the best way to explore options for CAD/CAM?

Is the best way to start learning about the options for CAD/CAM by talking to your Zahn representative? Or would it be better to contact each manufacture individually? How would you recommend going about it?

I heard the best place to start is with a scanner, is that right? Advice is welcome!

oh my dear sweet lord why in the world would you ever talk to ZAHN

two companies i advise you to talk to. Imagine, and Axsys.

between them, they'll have you going right in no time.

that, or you know browse our extensive forums on the subject.

Also on that list would be core3d regarding a 3Shape scanner, and as CHL said, not Zahn.
Support can mean everything.

And yes, a scanner first if you're going to do it in steps that you can afford.

I'd suggest a DOF scanner and a big dose of Exocad.

Is it a 2 week course, or 2 days?
A beginner course than an advanced course?

From who, for the best support for Thomas..besides here?
I got my DOF from Imagine and my Exocad from Scott. I've had no problems with the scanner and anytime I need Exocad support it is a phone call & team viewer click away.

Thanks doug, as I didn't know about Imagine until CHL mentioned it in his post, and now you, too.

Nice follow up, CHL. Good for Brent, he's good people, I hope it works out for him and Felix.

Thanks CLH. I appreciate the support.
You should really spend some quality time on our website: https://axsysdental.com
Especially exploring "The Learning Zone" tab and: https://axsysdental.com/UniqueSolution.html#fourkeyelements
I spent a lot of time making our site educational, not just a giant brochure or commercial for our products and services.
It turned out to be a pretty good site (of course I might be prejudice) —I have been told it is a good site to learn.
Check it out. I would be interested to hear your opinion.

your learning page has a lot of great info Steve.

the OP Thomas seemed to be looking more at what the 'whole package' is and where to start, and how. sort of a new convert to digital technology you might say. he'll need scanning, and CAD ... and probably a good foundation in digital as a whole.
