I have owned a 42w for years. Milled 500+ custom abutment on same spindle no issue. Spindle broke. Had bought extended warranty. Roland installed new spindlel, the upgrade 42w + one. First spindle they installed didnt work right away. Sent a 2nd one. Tech installed that and worked for 5 months milling only 68 custom abutment and now broke. Called Roland. They said warranty is 90 days. Does not matter if i milled 1 custom abutment 90 days and you are on your own. Wants 6000$ for a new spindle. Wont give me any warranty. I mill 1 unit and 90 days is past i have to pay 6000$ again. If i haveknown this i would have never bought this mill. Paying 97$ per custom abutment just for spindle wear not including miling burs is not acceptable. My old mill was 12$ a unit in spindle wear so resonable. Just a warning to everyone. I have all emails correspondence with Roland saved if anyone does not believe me.

in oz there is a scale after warranty that under consumer law means you still have a right to get it fixed etc if its failed in an unreasonable time .do they have that in your part of the world if you are not from oz

Not familiar w/ the 42W spindles, but the old DWX50 spindles were very easy to rebuild for less than a hundred bucks IIRC.

3mm collet milling titanium? Youre just roasting it.

$97 you are paying and you have to mill it yourself? You know there are milling centers out there that specialize in milling abutments right? Trust me, I get it, i always want to do it in-house as well but for that cost (and the extra $6000) no friggin way would i be milling my own abutments.

I think hes calculating the $6000 spindle into the amount of abutments he got out of it. I mill nobel premills and they arent cheap ($79?), or as cheap as dess even though theyre made in the same place, but still very profitable.

Yes my first spindle average cost per abutment was 12$ my next spindle 97$ because Roland won't stand behind their product.

Now you know how to calculate when to put the next one on ebay.

Okay, sorry, now i'm tracking you, thanks for the clarification. I will add that most machines capable of milling abutments on the industrial scale like we would need usually cost over 100K. Not sure what the 42W cost, but I suspect no where near that number.

Hopefully its not a 42watt spindle Laugh
