Trial packing

I tried both trial packing and not trial packing. Personally I get better results when I do it but I've seen it done by someone else who got equally good results without trial packing .

It may to the eye seem the same, but when it is in the mouth it will collect more germs(denture stink), and a weaker tooth bond. It may be more drop resistant though because it is softer.

I have doubts about the assertion of drop resistance. Porosity is bubbles, air gives no structural support.
It is where a badly made prosthetic has bubbles that I find most 'in 2 pieces' fractures and cracks happen.

I agree that long term might not have the same strength.

Lucitone 199 instructions read that you can use their product without trial packing. Except on extra thick cases.

Gc acrylic instructions read that you must trial pack their material.

It definitely won't.
The more interstitial spaces there are in the polymer chain, the faster the rate of degradation.
It's about water imbibition; the weaker/ looser the polymer chain, the greater weight in water, which acts as free radicals unraveling the resin's polymer chain.
That has a huge effect on longevity

I've had many a bad experience in my younger days short packing 199.
Belts and suspenders baby.
It takes longer to correct a problem case than it does to trial pack all your cases.
Just sayin'

Besides, I take all Dentsply's promises with a grain of salt.

I tried lucitone 199 without trial packing and it seems to come out a dull shade rather than a shiny surface. The polished denture doesn't look different but I just don't trust it.

GC cares about their product, DENTSPLY just cares about selling. Oh our lucitone broke or changed color we have something to sell you to fix that.

I used lucitone 199 when I first started like every one else. It is the standard acrylic which all others are judged by. That doesn't mean it is the best, just the base zero for analysis. Nowadays I avoid dentply whenever possible. I am mainly an ivoclar guy, but GC is the second place I look.

I was simply stating the instructions, not condemning or condoning.
I'm not great with trial packing although I try.

:)

When you desire consistency and the best product that you can produce, you will trial pack, if that is your technique. Why anyone or any lab, would not follow manufacturer instructions is beyond me. Same goes for microwave, pour, injection, milling, etc. Follow the instructions. If you don't get the desired results, then you can call the manufacturer, and find out what is wrong.

And kcdt, I thought that was a funny comment : )

I'm here all week; try the veal

Trial packed for 30 years. I cant afford not to produce a consistent end product.

I quit trial packing years ago.....Went to Ivocap.
I also quit using anything dentsply years ago.
