Thank you so much again. So that split hex was not supposed to be completely separated, but they do that
as a result of wear and tear?

They were made in the split pieces Held together with the screw during insertion.
 
That's an interesting approach to the problem, kind of like a tapered gib in a machine dovetail way, if i'm understanding it correctly. dunno if it actually works as intended, but still neat.
 
I think the idea is great, such that when the preload is applied, it would cause the 2 to distort enough to lock in to the walls while
creating friction in function, slowly causing a real mechanical lock that may make it even harder to remove.
Not surprised this design did not become mainstream or widely adopted.
