The split looked too clean to be a fracture, almost like made or designed that way.
Special situation hack?

This is old Perioseal which is out of business and not compatible with others. The split hex on the abutment was supposed to provide resistance to loosening.

They were made in the split pieces Held together with the screw during insertion.

That's an interesting approach to the problem, kind of like a tapered gib in a machine dovetail way, if i'm understanding it correctly. dunno if it actually works as intended, but still neat.

I think the idea is great, such that when the preload is applied, it would cause the 2 to distort enough to lock in to the walls while
creating friction in function, slowly causing a real mechanical lock that may make it even harder to remove.
Not surprised this design did not become mainstream or widely adopted.
