Hello Everyone
I am based in India

I am planning to buy milling machine for my lab. currently i have casting setup and want to upgrade to milling. I am confused between Roland DWX-52D vs Arum 300D and Amann Girrbach Mikro 5x or on higher side Arum 5x 400 or AG Motion 2 (benefit of doing cutomized abutments.

I want to mill Zirconia, Wax, PMMA and GCam (graphene).

Very confused. Please Guide

Roland is capable of filing those materials. If you are busy get yourself a version with changer...And buy machine for which you can get goooooood support local otherwise stay away from it. It would avoid Amann, heard a lot, seen a lot....

i just wanted to share you my experience.

The lab i work, have 3 roland, 52dci, 52d and 52d c-clamp. From the start its just problems, dealing with board issue, spindle noise issue now dealing with axis issue with all of them, tech supposed to come in don’t know when, they already ship the parts. Dci is over a year and the other two under a year.

Look for company that have good tech support in india. Contacting with roland support is just a pain, you cannot call them, you have to filled in a support form from their website and they will take atleast a week to email you back and ask you to send a video and sound recording of the issue or noise or whatever. I am supposed to go through my reseller but this time i ran out of patience and directly contact them through their online support.

This is just my experience. Theres a thread on this forum you can lookup about roland machines. If you know of any lab there try to find out what kind of mill they are using and enquire about what kind of support they get.

If you are eyeing on roland go with the c-clamp it is much faster that the regular 52d. If you have a lot of work and and trying to keep up, dci with disc chamger will be another one you can mill them overnight, next day all you have to do is clean up and get ready for the day. Dci is slow and takes longer to mill but you can nest and que up file and do something else.

I am just sharing you my experience.

Very confused. Please Guide
Hello, my name is Jane Qi, customer service specialist for DGSHAPE Global. DGSHAPE is the company that manufacturers the DWX series often referred to as Roland mills. As you mentioned of doing customized abutments, do you mean screw retained crowns in zirconia material or a titanium/chrome cobalt abutment?

The DWX-52D can handle Zirconia, Wax, and PMMA well. There are some users having success with the GCam material yet this may require a unique strategy based on the CAM software you select.

If you are planning to mill titanium custom abutments, or expand to larger sub structures, the Arum would be the bet choice. The best of both worlds would be a DWX-52D for Zirconia, Wax, and PMMA while using the ARUM for the custom abutments and expanding your metal milling in the future

PMMA milling on the DWX-52D will require a different set of tools (ones that have roughed shanks) and you'll have a great experience with the product.

I also would like to know will this be your first time using a CAD/CAM mill?

Hello
Thank you for your kind responses. I had booked AG Motion 2 in June but they have not delivered it yet and have been delaying it on weekly basis. So really worried about after sales service, which already has bad reputation in India. Thinking of cancelling my order and going with Rolland DWX-52D which has most no. of installations in India. What are your opinions. Thanks

Hello @Smileaxisdental. I can't speak on the behalf of AG for your region, but for DGSHAPE (Roland),we have multiple layers of support available for you.

First, our dry mill devices are easily supported by the user, even to the point where a user can replace their spindle in 20-min. Our devices are user friends, easy to set up and maintain, and the user can perform these actions without help from support.

In the even that support is needed, the reseller in your region is the first point of contact. After which, should you need further assistance, we have people like myself online, and our entire company available to help as long as your product is under warranty.

Hope the above answers will clear your concerns. If you need my further support, please feel free to reach out. Thanks.

Question for Jane Qi,

I have never seen a Roland Tech here before? What makes Roland change their mind to be here on this forum?

I mean its a very good thing to do, see what users are facing, their problems and issues.

Im just curious.

Hello, @MrNeverFixit. Thanks for your comment. Really appreciate.

We understand our customers are using many social media websites to discuss their technical challenges and product questions. Oftentimes, those who respond to these challenges may not provide the best information due to their current frustrations, other interests, or lack of product understanding. We are now here to help our customers get accurate information, or good support, that will encourage a good experience with our products.

This is just the beginning, I'm unsure if you are on other social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram, but many users go to these channels to gather information or help. You will see much more from DGSHAPE online over the coming years. 🌹
