Is it a good idea to put the roland milling unit on top of the ivac vacum ? I have a friend who has it like that for a long time he swears no problems the milling unit is quite heavy ....

I wouldn't personally, the machine should be on a very solid base. Even if the vacuum is sturdy enough, when it goes into cleaning mode and vibrates, that could potentially cause issues in milling.
