How long do you guys suggest waiting post extraction before having partial frame made? Ive been suggesting 8 weeks especially on free end saddles but Im getting a little push back.

6-10 weeks, depends on patients and healing, they are all different. Studies show 2/3'ds of all soft/hard tissue has some type of resorption for the first three months. Now you could always do the partial whenever, then reline the saddles at a later date, solves the push back and a suggestion I would be down for.

Ya, they like to do 4 weeks and i consistently see extraction sockets still. Then they ask for frame to be 'as rententive as possible.' I dont know why its so hard for these guys to connect the dots. Loose saddles doesnt aid in retention. Its weird. I know theyre way smarter than I am, by far, yet these little things they dont seem to grasp. I think a lot of it must be that they have had the expectation that removables is just easy gravy, no brain oower work. Dunno all good tho we shall carry on. Thanks lab guy

Most of our Dr's do an acrylic interim until healing is complete and then do a framework.
thanks doris. Im guessing theyre scared to suggest that route for fear of losing a sale. Not sure. These docs refer to me for basically everything removable which is nice until my suggestions land on the bean counters desk. Im having to harness my zen.

No, it's because they want to sell the "permanent" partial for the bigger fee. Also they're afraid if they do the interim first, patient is likely to be satisfied and not come back for the big money.

And they could give 2 thumbs for what is best for the patient. As for me, I recommend to them they do not make metal partial when doing extractions. For the reason you mention. Maybe 1-2 teeth you can get away. Then when they gripe about retention later, I charge their ass for a reline. I don't listen to the "we just made this" rhetoric.

I recommend to them 3 months in an interim, and I only warranty an immediate interim for 3 months for the very reason. The anterior flipper is gonna break off eventually as well.

Well, equate "not listening to recommendations" to getting paid for solving the problem. At that point, it's not a "we" problem. They're a customer, not a partner. A lot of these bean counters talk a big business game, but until they're inhaling the acrylic shavings, it's just posturing for a discount.

How long does it take after placing an implant to proceed with restoration ? Minimum 4 months and this almost a complete healing. You can do it in 4 to 6 weeks and way before that but a reline is in the near future. Just my experience.
