So...
What did you want to be?

I remember telling my 7th grade class I wanted to be a jet pilot.
Everyone laughed.
*sigh

Back to work!

Lol actually wanted to be a High School Gym Coach so I could coach football and baseball...??

Lol but I don't know for you guys but not getting an education landed me the old dental lab tech gig and I couldn't be more stressed out and happier!

So for me this is what I get for not getting an edumacation! An 65 hour plus work week, and sleepless nights because I can't stop thinking about what tomorrow is going to bring! Lol I am a young gun I am going to drive my self nuts!:frusty:

I wanted to be a professional basketball player. I had a plan and everything. I would walk onto Iowa and play hard till I got the start my senior year and put up some good numbers. Then after I graduate I would sign as a free agent.

Then in 7th grade my dam guidance counselor informed all of us with delusions that there are only like 12-15 players on a team and 30 teams so not everyone can play basketball! Bastard!!

Then stopped growing at 6'4" couldn't jump all that high and my stupid coach put me at center.

What ya going do huh, NBA player dental tech they're practically the same profession.

Ditto for me! But really, I can hardly think of anything that requires both the ability to be precise AND ridiculous levels of creativity and problem solving that being a dental tech requires. I suspect most good techs can identify with the moment in the movie Apollo 13 (?) where they dump the stuff on the table and tell those present they have a limited time to make "A fit B" with the junk in front of them. We do that every day!

Well, I was a pharmacy tech and I WANTED to be a dental tech. At the young age of 25 I went back to school and fulfilled my dream.

Strange I did get the education (apprentice, Army & college) and went into dental lab tech, so what is my excuse? I suppose I am 2nd generation my dad worked at a commercial lab & had me there when I was 10 pouring models, making baseplates, articulating cases even working in the C&B doing dies. Cleaning the floor & the sinks. I haven't done dies in decades but did some custom trays, models & articulations, & set ups today (one on an old Hanau art). I also cleaned my sink, changed the trap & cleaned the floor, strange how things never seem to change for me. He had me setting teeth when I was in 7th grade. He was a dental tech in the Army & I recieved my invitation (draft notice) went in to be a medic and after 2 years I spent 3 more but as a dental tech. I guess I have been a plaster monkey for a really long time. As long as my hands hold up I will probably ave to keep doing this. Oh in 7th grade I did a paper on the way an articulator copies Gods handiwork. I thini I wanted to be either an ambulance driver or a dental technician, in 7th grade.

Professional Skier. Not a lame slalom racer, but the AK cliff huckin freerider kind!! Skied 40+ days a year from kindergarten till I was 25 when I had my first kid so it dropped to 5 days then. THen had twins 3 years ago and missed out on the last 3 years. I went through some major withdrawals and now I've pushed the pain to the back of my gut...someday it's going to resurface

I guess live a sheltered life. I had to Google this Jeremy guy to find out who he was.

I wanted to own a business and after some research and talking with the local lab school found it was possible to own a lab with a very small capital investment and training as a dental tech was the first step in the direction. The world has changed a lot from that time and I don't think that is what I would have done with the lab industry like it is today.
