I saw the video yesterday.

I just checked the link and I guess just wax printing.

At $4900.00 it's safe to say that waxing techs are officially on the endangered species list.

no, not wax......no heat involved.

What makes you say/think that?

From the link.... "This printer integrates 3D Systems’ VisiJet® FTX Green material – a durable and rigid material that is tailored for plastic prototyping and casting patterns making it ideal for jewelers, dental labs, and designers of very small detail products such as collectibles and electronic component parts."........

It's plastic that can also be used for lost-wax casting. Same basic stuff as all other Dental printers.

Sorry for calling it wax ...green chit that looks like wax! Digisnot!

I couldn't care less what its called, I have more important things to care about than nerd speak!

The wax techs can be trained to design and process...A CAD/CAM WAXER.

The techs don't have to be eliminated...with such a shortage of well trained techs...they can be trained in other areas such as metal or ceramics...with their new developed skills they now become better rounded dental lab techs.

True but at $4900 , why would I hire a technician at all?

I'd rather hire a computer tech.

I guess it could go either way. You are more likely talking about a small lab.

The dental lab tech...already has the dental technology background that could be helpful...I think a large lab would probably take this into consideration...good point though.

You're right as well however I think the days of handwaxing from start to finish doesn't make any sense.

The cad wax/resin material has so many advantages over melting wax .

The Asiga is even cheaper and higher resolution.

I was just at their web site...didn't see prices...do you know how much cheaper?

These printer companies could easily modify the software so the copings are already sprued for you...instead of having to cut and and sprue...would save a step.

Yes, they have been doing this for a while. (with the sprues)

Asiga is new, and small company, and probably will be bought by 3dsystems or Stratasys soon anyways I bet.

I have a sample here they printed for me. Looks good....but small build area.

We are planning on getting one within the first quarter of next year.
$5k, 14mm per hour @12 unit per table. That's faster then any of my mills can mill wax. Seems like a good deal.

How's the "perfection"on it? good enough for acceptable fits and margins?

Im very curious too. I know you tech guys have discussed it before, but how does the fit of milled wax compare to these printers, and how does the 'digisnot' burn out? Clean? Does is bubble up and expand and create pressure in the mold like some plastics?
