NBC constantly works to ensure that our written examination item banks are relevant and maintained. As such, we are currently working on validating questions in the item banks. We have written and reviewed questions from various subject matter experts in the field. The next step in the process entails pilot testing, also known as data gathering.

This process allows us to test these new questions so that we may identify specific data that is necessary for determining test validity and reliability. We are now Pilot Testing in the specialties of Complete Dentures, Ceramics, Crown & Bridge, and Implants.

As a technician, you can help by taking the upcoming CDT Pilot exams! Any technician who is eligible to sit for the CDT Exams is eligible to sit for the Pilot Exams. You do not need to be a CDT or NADL Member to sit for the exams and there is no charge to take them. Those who take the exams will not receive a grade, but they will receive 2 hours of Documented Scientific credit. This is an excellent opportunity to take a CDT exam without the pressure of studying and worrying!

The pilot exams will be held in various locations throughout the US. Please visit our website at http://www.nbccert.org/rg_test.cfm to view the online calendar and see upcoming dates and locations.

If you have any questions, please contact the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology at (800) 684-5310, or email Deborah Mandel at [email protected].
