OPEN Kavo Everest system

Hi,
Depending on version of Kavo software on your scan/design PC
the scan data is already in .STL format :D
It works like this:
- if you using old (pre Energy) software v.4.07.06
scan data (after step F2=Scan) is in .BRE Breuckmann format
but at the end of F3=Surface step (just before accepting margin line)
go to: File > Wrap and export your scan in open .STL format
- if you using Energy software (above 5.0 version – currently v.8.2.1.12)
Your scan data (after step F2=Scan) is in “RAW STL” format already
and needs a little processing in order to be usable.

We do that every day – works like this:
#1 scan with kavo scanner
and automatically transfer scan data using “Allway Sync” software
#2 clean up/process scan data with "Geomagic Studio"
#3 design using "3shape DentalDesigner" CAD software
this way, with 3shape we can also accept intra-oral scans
from 3M COS and iTero (and Sirona in future)
#4 send the design straight to Kavo Engine for milling
in any material you want being: zirconia, or eMax, or titanium,
or cobalt chrome alloy, or VITA CAD-Temp, or Everest C-Cast

If something like this would work for you - contact: Bog
He is the guy who helped us and some other Kavo Everest owners
with this set up.

Good luck on your journey to OPEN Kavo Everest system popcorn
It's worth it :)

You could import Kavo files into RhinoCAD software with DentalShaper add-on.
Then just export your design in .stl

I could help you try that next month if you want.

Hi,
How import .stl files to Kavo Everest system 8.2v?

Hey Dejvis - be more specific - what do you want to do ?
What kind of .STL files ? - model/die scans or design ?
Import to where ? - scan PC or Engine PC ?

^That sounds tedious. Buy a 3shape. ;)

3 Shape and DelCam, and as long as your machine is half way normal, you should be able to do anything you want. This is where a bad choice in a closed system, or off brand scanner and design software will come back to bite you.

Who has time to monkey around?

Hi Dejvis, Ciao Vito,

There are several ways you can achieve your goal:

scenario # 1 - "you have CAD design of coping, bridge or full crown in .STL file"
scanned in any scanner and designed in any CAD program that outputs in .STL
The only way to mill it with KaVo Engine is if you get different CAM software for it.
Your have a few choices - all quite pricey thou:
- Sescoi -
WorkNC DENTAL
- CimSystem - SUM3D Dental
- Delcam - DentMILL
- OPEN MIND - hyperDENT

scenario # 2 - "you have model/die scan in .STL format"
Use 3shape Dental Designer CAD software to design your desired type
of restoration - coping, bridge, full crown or whatever,
and then with the help of KaVo - 3shape Export Tool
send it to Kavo Engine PC for milling.

Kavo scanners also produce .STL files - you just need to know how to "extract" them.

If you need help with setup #2 - email:
[email protected]

Good luck to both of you - and let us know the results
:D

Milling .stl files

hello,
I'm Italian and I recently purchased iil kavo system.
I can not understand how I can send to "engine" * stl files of other scanners.
thanks

You CAN introduce/mill a .stl prep scan file from any other scanner into the Everest scanner and it is not very hard to do:

F2 SCAN, do a fake scan
F3 SURFACE, take a note of the (mess file number e.g mess_27)
Go my computer
Local disk C: or what ever yours is
click on Daten
look for mess_27
click on mess_27
look for STL file
click on STL file
now import your .stl file (CERTIFICATE TRUST LIST FILE)
re name it the same as the one that is there e.g mess_27
get rid of old .stl file
now go back to F3 surface and design your new coping

May sound a bit long winded but takes a few seconds to do- have fun:)

What should I do in the program "Geomagic Studio" to get the stl file?

Sorry Vito, I don't understand, are you looking for the .stl or replacing it with a new one?

You do not need to play in Studio, all you are doing is fooling the system by changing one .stl file for another. all you need is a fake mess number or if you have an old test job then use the mess number from that one

You just need, hard drive, Daten(open),mess_number(open),STL file (open) then remove/replace the green file that you want to work with, and if you want to design then go to F3 surface.

If you want more help then pm me and Iwill email you step by step pics. Pete
