There is such a large range on these cases, every time I see a low ball price I always smile and wonder what that lab will do when something goes wrong in the future.
Every-time there is a failure in the manufacturing you wonder why you are doing these cases as well
Every time it goes smooth as silk you wish the lab was full of them.
We have six arches in the lab now, one milled out last night and I can tell you we have really streamlined the efficiency/costs associated with these appliances. It has a high learning curve and there is a reason why there are so few outsource labs offering the milling of these. The liability and finger pointing is enough to make you pull your hair out. I have been approached by several labs to "Help" with these cases and I have chosen not to do it as it just not profitable for me, and very easy to create bad blood when and if things go south. I am sure when you message Sam to get pricing for the outsourcing you will see its not cheap to get these milled, but you get what you pay for and your certainly are paying for all the cases you never see that fail in milling
With all this being said if I was a guy that wanted to get started in this I would partner with people like CAP, take their course and get trained. ALSO the most important part of all of this is don't do them for clients that do not have good removable experience. If they are unable to take a good bite and give you what you need it will be a disaster. The guys that take a hack bite and then grind the piss out of the mock and say go to finish get a surcharge for a second design and mock. There is just no way to get the big bur out for ZI and god know many try.
We are not doing denture set ups anymore we do everything in cad, cases can be done in as little as 4 appointments.
1) master model and verification jig (now milling the verification jigs) screw retained bite rim
2) articulate and digitize model/relation and design mock and either print or mill PMMA for bite/ aesthetic verification.
3) append design with any modifications from the try in and either remill a mock or finish the restoration.
The parts associated with these case are extremely inexpensive if you compare it to any other full arch implant retained and supported appliance,
Anyhow I am happy to share any wisdom I have that I have obtained over the last two years doing these cases, please don't hesitate to drop me an email or PM
