Hello DLN community ! I’m an in-house tech with a mainly analog background. Im moving into a new opportunity , at an office that is looking to digitize more of their full arch workflow.
My question for anyone in the digital space is:
What are the main contrasts between an IOS and a bench top scanner in regards to accuracy for full arch cases currently? The office has a trios iOS , but I’d like to have a bench top scanner as well.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated !

I think your challenge will be convincing the patient to stick their head in the bench top scanner.

What will your design software be, can you do that with just a Trios scan? IMO, it may be nice to have your own desktop scanner and design software for convivence sake. With Trios, get an E series 3Shape scanner for seamless I/O imports, and for anything else. The accuracy of scanners (at least lab scanners) these days probably surpasses what a mill can mill, micron wise.

Why would the dentist take an impression after purchasing a Trios ? I had no use for my E3 after all my clients went digital.

I'm thinking future proof, is this the only dentist OP is ever going to have? If all their accounts are digital, then I guess that's okay. I'm still designing iTerror, and Primescan in 3Shape Dental. What design software do you use, if you don't, a person doesn't have desktop scan software?

We’ll be using Exocad for our design software…
Thanks for the feedback; your thoughts and discussion is exactly the input I was looking for.

photogammatry will be out soon with TRU and available for ipad.

until then
we have been doing modeless IO full arch prints for quite some time now
have your dr buy some instaRisa markers to allighn all scans... you need 3 markers to "tripod"

the medit 700 IO accuracy is 11.9 microns across the arch
the medit T710 is 4 microns across the arch

the difference is bacteria size or a dust particle.. across an arch... "scan markers matter" btw. pick your system carefully... as some are ridiculously inaccurate.

i love exocad.. meditlink integrations are superior and so is their tech support.. also case management for a smoother workflow
