Help DCM and STL

Does anyone know how to convert a .dcm file to STL? o_O

I've read online it can be done with 3Shape 3d viewer but I use exocad.

Client sent me some model scans in dcm which by the way seem too small (less than 1MB)

Im not sure if dcm files contain patient data so I will hold on uploading them until I can figure this out Banghead

Im supposed to rush a crown same day from those files :arghh:
 
Send me the file and I can quickly do it for you or look for datakit crossmanager and also delcam exchange can do it.

exocad can be configured to open .dcm files. There are also other utility software that can convert it as well.
Your exocad reseller should have the instructions or be able to do it for you.
 
The 3shape 3d viewer cannot convert files, but you can export your order in 3shape and it will save as .stl.

If you want a Hippa compliant file share try bio big box.

I have a version that can. Well at least most 3Sheep dcm files.

The standard 3Shape viewer that comes with 3Shape won't do it. You need an application call shapedesigner. 3Shape makes it. Its free. It just needs to be enabled on your dongle. That's the issue though.. Some resellers wont enable it on your dongle. Last time I needed to renew it it was a big struggle.

Also, there is no support for it. You're on your own. It is a great app though. I use it all the time for stl/dcm exchange, and to edit attachments, scan files, etc.
 
Yup, i have it and no response from retailer nor 3shape to enable the dongle. Sighaa

Remnants of a time when 3sheep did not close the loopholes yet...the new releases check for this, and will nix this feature...
 
Just checked my 2014 2.9.9.5 and nothing. Wtf zero!

I tried with 3D Viewer 1.2.7.0 which comes with DS 2010 and that won't work. DS 2012 has 3D Viewer 1.2.9.0 and that doesn't have save either.

That leaves DS 2011 and 3D Viewer 1.2.8.0, but I don't have installers for those (and neither do resellers in their archives). Did 2011 happen at all?

You're right...1.2.8.0 would be the last to support it (I think ?), although it has to be enabled...
