Never had this happen before but we have made 2 night guards for a patient that keeps turning green. She says she is not doing anything odd with it but it is a green color now. It is a hard acrylic night guard. Any one else????

I'd ask what vitamins and supplements the patient is taking, when they are taken and what they do with it when it's not in their mouth. And if they snack or drink with it or put it in without brushing.

Good Luck! Real curious myself.

I hand out these with every new acrylic containing fabricaton and with repairs that have obvious care issues.

This would be my first guess. Oddly enough, I had a green tinged night guard come in for repair last week (supposd to be clear). Once I started grinding it, there was a strong minty odor. I steam cleaned it, ran it through an ultrasonic, and bead-blasted the interior surfaces (not in that particular order). After polishing, it cleared up quite a bit.

I would bet she is soaking it in mouthwash overnight.

PMMA imbibes water. 5-7% of volume, iirc.
Color goes along for the ride.

.3-.4%. I guess I don't recall correctly...
