Exocad Attachment Error?

I'm trying to do a digital wax-up and merge the STL pontic files with the wax-up mesh but it gives me the error "exocad Attachment operation failed: Ensure that the attachment geometry correctly intersects the desired target reconstruction". If I move the attached files around and hit apply again, I can get it to merge the attachment without the error, but that negates the whole point since you loose the coordinate system. Any thoughts?

Are you doing this to make a printable model and do you have model creator module?

Yeah, I will print it out but also want to reimport as one model and make shell provisionals, like glidewell biotemps

In model creator import the jaw scan that you want to attach the pontic files. Select demonoplate for the model type. <----this is a solid model no hollow bottom. Go all the way through the steps. After the model is merged go to expert mode and select free form model. Attach your pontics and click ok/save changes. Import this mesh into your other job. This doesn't always work 100%.

Another approach is just save the scene with only the preoperative mesh and the DX pontics in the scene as one and reimport for what ever you are using it for.

It looks like I can do it on a generated model but not on the original mesh file itself like it is shown in some of the examples I've seen. Not sure if it is a bug or something else but thank you for the input!!

With factory release settings you can only + or - attach to objects generated in exocad like a bridge, model, abutment, etc.
The object you want to attach most times needs to have a watertight mesh or exocad will throw an error.
It is not possible to attach to a scan file (jaw scan) without an edit to the default settings xml.

I'll have to watch that vid on a desktop since I can't see the detail in the clicks he is choosing, but it appears he is generating a waxup scan.

As per as recent Exocad webinar...In the new Plovdiv upgrade they made this much easier! ;-) After free forming your pontics and generating your anatomic shapes, generate your model and while in Model Creator switch to Expert, then right click and choose the "digital waxup model" option and it generates a model to include your anatomic designs ...no more dealing with attachments!

I absolutely Hate the latest version of exocad, don't use it. Using Gallway as it's predictable, repeatable = profitable.
