Hi,

this is my first post on dentallabnetwork.com, I woud like to say Hello to all of you and I hope you will help me.
I have found different informations about Etkon es1 scanner.
I need to know, if it is possible to use it as open system, If does it create stl file?
I want to use it for scanning purposes only, not to send files to Straumann.
Does it save the file, or send it only? What is the format? Is it encrypted?

Thank you, and have a nice day.

The Straumann etkon CAD/CAM system is a CLOSED architecture system. Milling is done by Straumann, the files are sent to Straumann. You may want to take a look at this system if your after open architecture system: http://www.3shape.com/our-products/dental-system.aspx

The es1 and accompanying software do save the files locally. It's been a while since I used the system but if I remember correctly, it's Linux based, creates a directory for each case and the .b00 file stores the resulting prosthesis in un-encrypted data. It was really quite straightforward to extract the points and triangles.
