Hi, I'm sorry for your problem, but from my experience it seems pretty weird.
I am a dental technician from Spain, I bought EGS' DScan3 1 year ago more or less and I must say that I'm really satisfied by it.
Also one of my friends works with this kind of scanner (he was the one suggesting me to try it out) and we both haven't ever heard about these kind of problems.
Actually, I just had a light problem with the software a few months back but EGS fixed it in no time through its skype support.
So, I think your situation is very strange and unusual or maybe the problem is just more serious than mine!
