My Roland DWX-50 with Sum 3d has been breaking 2mm burs lately. its doesn't happen every time but when it does its always on the first pass and appears to want to plunge deeper then usual.
any ideas?
thanks

Here are some things to try:
Make sure all dimensions of the tool match the dimensions of the tool in Sum 3D. If not, create a new tool in Sum 3D that matches your tool geometry.
Confirm the thickness of the stock (material puck) match the stock thickness in Sum3D.
Confirm tool touch off is working correctly.

Is this only happening with one particular job or all jobs?
Have you changed anything? Tools, strategies, material vendor?
Have you completely cleaned and calibrated the mill?

once i had a puck whose gripping band around the edge of the disc was not perfectly centered, and was in fact consistently off 2mm in one direction. measure.

Couple of my 1mm broke because sum3d had issues reading the margins on one particular type of implant abutments. The machine forcibly drilled the zirconia and broke.

Also broke a 2mm when sum3d skipped few operations.

I always use the simulator before sending files to the milling machine for abutments and complicated cases.
