Hi Guys, I am in the market to purchase a new lab scanner and am pretty impressed with the specs on the DOF X5. Do any of you have experience working with it? Any weaknesses? what would you choose if price and location were not an issue? All your advice will be considered invaluable.

I use a UHD, the scans are impressive, it takes a fast PC to render, or the scan times take longer. The swing style are supposed to be faster though. Ive had my issues with DOF but the scanners are nice. I have both DOF and Medit, for the money Id go with medit.

Thank you for your input. Ive used the UHD extensively and was pretty impressed. Its the swing arm on the X5 that gives me concerns. Should i be concerned about that at all i wonder

Id sell my UHD for the price of an x5

Long time DOF HD user and today received X5, soon will start using it. Built a new powerful PC for it as the newer scanapp need more power to render fast(er).

A faster pc makes all the difference, first pc I used took about 20-30 seconds to build the model, now on a moderately fast ryzen 5, it takes less than 5 seconds.. Huge time savings overall.

I am so

Hi Technic. i am keen and curious to know your thoughts after using it for a while.

Got the scanner.... the software is not good... many bugs and features missing that are in older software. DOF said they will fix the software at the beginning of the next year. Main problem is, that when you scan some parts more, than what it suggest, the software just crashes.

The newer software doesnt work with the UHD so I havent tried it. There is a lot of hype with DOF but Ive seen them fail to deliver on the backend support, even if the hardware is innovative, they dont stand behind it.
