Diversity in Dentistry

Dental Lab Products posted on FB that February is Black History Month and they will be highlighting contributions by the black community in a push for diversity across the industry.
Do you think the “industry “ lacks diversity?
Really? Every lab I ever worked in resembled the UN. The dentists I have met came from every corner of the earth.
The only time “ colour “ was an issue was matching a central or picking the right acrylic.
Where exactly is there a lack of diversity in dentistry?

The first lab that I worked in, the general manager was from Germany,
The c&b manger was French, the top ceramist was Chinese.
The denture processor and repair guy was from Jamaica.
The denture setup guy was Jewish . 2 other techs were from Quebec and 2 other trainees were Polish.
That was in 1978.

At my office, the front desk is Chilean, two assistants are Mexican, the other is from Guatemala. One dentist is from Dominican Rep., second is Canadian and the third is Romanian/Jewish (husband and wife). The orthodontist who helps out when needed is from Spain.

This is what I mean. I have no issues with Black History Month.
My issue is with the statement that we must push for more diversity. What the heck does that mean? Are they implying that Dentistry is racist? Really?
