Can my sintering furnace be used for stain and glaze?

New to Zirconia, just bought a mill, and furnace (mihm vogt HT-S 2) and am wondering if this can also be used for firing glaze & stains? I was under the assumption that it was and that I wouldn't need any more equipment past these tools and a few smaller pieces.

I am planning on using (per recommendations here and by another lab owner) InSync Glaze & stains from Jensen, but maybe there is something more compatible with my equipment?

I would also love any tips on how you characterize your restorations, and any other equipment recommendations you would make. (Lab equipment I have: VHF K5+, Sandblaster & respective vacuums for both, the HT-S 2, A suction hood for zirconia work (still need a good cheap vacuum recommendation),SprintRay Pro 55S, SprintRay wash and cure units, and a handpiece/motor)

If there are specific burs, brushes, tools, etc. you'd like to recommend, I am here for it all. Give me your favorites.

IMO, no way, it's not made for that. Get a cheaper porcelain oven that was made for that purpose. Something if needed, like for a porc. add on, you can use with vacuum. Those elements aren't meant for quick and short low temp firing cycles. They can be $500.00 - 680.00+ per element. You do not want to be burning those out and replacing them prematurely.

You need a porcelain oven with a vacuum pump.

Miyo by jensen is another great system for characterizing zirconia, they have a brush kit that works really well.

Are you by chance a doc/in-house lab?

You just need to show up sooner and nip it in the bud :)

At least we didn't mention that the absolute best stain and glaze system for zirconia (a favorite they asked for) is Will-Ceram dry powder stains mixed with OPC 3G glaze powder using Pentron's glaze medium. But, we just won't give up our stain combinations.

Or that if @all-in-dental buys a front loading Nabertherm sinter furnace, the problem is solved for staining and glazing zirconia crowns ;) :) Just kidding all in dental, buy a designated porc. oven.

No you can not, you can get a $700 new small oven for glazing and not all need vacuum to glaze.

especially if you can get hold of the beryllium enriched red stains because the uranium ones were dangerous .if you want my pentron kit i still have it forsale luckily you know how good it is and how much it is worth. one of my techs still uses the pentron pressing furnace he just loves it.

Hey Charles! I just brought out the old Jelenko JelFire oven you pretty much gave me 12 years ago to help me start my lab!
I just plugged it in today. It gave me some prompt to enter a code…you still have the manual?🤣🤣🤣
