Can anyone recommend a good articulator? Preferably with magnetic mounting plates. I just need it mostly for dentures/partials and would like to be able to check lateral and protrusive excursions, but also able to lock it in place for centric.

Kavo makes really great articulator. However they are a little bit more on the pricey side the protar three is their basic model and then the five and seven are the upgrade but you can transfer from the 3 to the 7 or 5

I would consider the weight of that one. It's solid articulator but it is pretty heavy with a wider footprint.
Not trying to disparage it, but I returned mine and got the Hanau's instead.
The Stratos may be a good one as far as being lighter weight, i.e., less hand fatigue.

Good to know. Any opinions on the AD2? Looks very nice as well.

Sorry, no help here, as I've never used that one before.

I've got all of the articulators that I mentioned. They all go through excursions very well.
The Denar is a bit weighty but I don't mind that at all. The AD2 is a very good articulator and is lighter weight than the Denar.
But to tell you the truth I like the Denar the most. Just personal preference.

I've never used a Stratos so I can't compare them.

Weakling Hahaha

lol...I'm such a wuss :)

I get the idea of the Denar, as the upper ends are epoxied, to help keep them accurate so you can send cases to Dr's with their 310, and the casts should mount, line up and occlude exactly as was on your end, correct? Without a field kit.

Artex CPR . Best , hands down ! Quality and light as heck . Mounting plates are a bit expensive but get your hands on a platemaker if you can find one (or make one) . Easy to keep clean as well .

It looks like they have quite the variety, too:

Yes they are interchangeable. Also you can take a case off of a Panadent and it is interchangeable with an AD2.

Doris, I was just posting the same idea as you..the mounting plates and costs :)
I did not know about your resource, nice post :)
100 magnetic Denar plates from Zahn are 191.00, from your link, 2 packs of 50 are $150.00

Really like the look of the denar. Can it do lateral excursions?
Hi. I like the Denar 310, too. However, after little use, it starts to look like it had been with the Marines in a war zone... ie beaten up.

I personally like the Stratos best. I think Ivoclar has em on sales, or at least the pre-calibrated ones, here in the US.

I consider the Stratos to be the iPhone of articulators. I love the way it feels in my hand. Its clean looking, balanced, and doesn't feel clunky like other articulators can.
I have the LVI occlusal analyzer which makes mounting a breeze. Hip mounting. Hamular notch and incisal papilla.
