trudeau did what any sane person would - he made them go away without using riot police or resorting to mass arrests. in no uncertain terms he boldly said get off my lawn, we know who you are, we know everything about you, and while its a d1ck move to be sure, so is standing on your neighbors lawn and SCREAMING AT THEM for a month straight incessantly.

freezing their accounts was the nice thing to do, he could have used tear gas, snipers, isolation tactics like cutting off their food and bathrooms, but he did not, he made them get out and go back to their homes and trucking businesses.

the alternative would have been to sit down with the convoy leader - of which nobody wanted to come forward as the leader - to discuss the protest. though to do that would mean (and set precedent) that if you dont like gov policy you can just protest instead of challenge it in court. again you don't have that right in canada.

you can believe whatever you like about canada, we're well aware of how free we are or arent and it doesnt bother 99.999 % of us, just the maga weirdos among us who want to be americans. far as i'm concerned you can have them we'll deport them if you want them.

Credit scores have been destroyed and many could not make mortgage payments.

I have no skin in the game in this case as I am neither canadian nor American, but I find it disturbing that since covid we seem to have seen an increase in authoritarian behaviour in democratically elected governments the world over , particularly amongst left leaning govt's .
UK, New Zealand , Germany, Australia we are seeing more and more instances of govenment trying to silence dissent and undercover of we are doing it for your own good.
