Hey people,

I am considering to purchase 3D printer and I want some feedback from people who have experience on Asiga

Max, Kulzer Cara 4.0 or Structo Dentaform or maybe others.

I am planning to scan impression and print crown and bridge models to save time.

is printed model better than regular pour model? efficient ?

Hey JY! I use Asiga printers and would be more than happy to talk to you about them and what they can accomplish. If you're interested, send me a private message!

scan impression to print model will not save time, only save stone. it takes a while to print models and you have to spend time cleaning the model after print anyway.

besides, there are workflows that inhibit you from working this way, such as implant work. cant scan an implant impression and print a DIM.

doesnt work like that.

scan model and print copings, or something, fine. but printing models does not save time.

The only way it really saves time (if you can call it that) is impressions can be scanned and designed the same day they come in, rather than being tied up for a day in the model room. Still probably not worth it if your biggest motivator is saving time.

Maybe I was wrong. I thought scan impression and print models from 3D printer would save me a lot of time. I am not expecting 3D printer will handle all the cases, I thought it would handle 60-70% of my model work. I am mainly doing regular crown and bridge cases, only get 3-4 implant cases a month.

I have to agree. I want to explore this workflow myself. But from what Ive researched, scanning impressions isn't as reliable as I have hoped...but still want to try

why not just pour up die and trim that. Scan the die and impression and correlate then design so you have nice crisp margins. If you need model for more complicated cases print it ( mostly model free for singles),if not you have a die to check fit and margins.

I am trying scan impression and print model and pour second model(prep side) and check contacts and margin. I think it is best way to check both and save time at model room. anybody tried yet ?

Look into the Nexdent 5100 the resin line up nexdent has is amazing and i think personally the largest in the industry, also printer prints super fast. 3 quad model with a die in aprox 38 min. I dub it the mini carbon.

I heard good thing about this Nexdent 5100 printer. but i am not sure about it's reliability. I am afraid if i having issue with printer later and the tech support does not how to

handle. they might say "This is first time it is happening and have to investigate" so they connect me to specialist and they don't have solution and i am stuck with machine

for days and weeks without using it. if they can send me a loaner machine, then i would be very lucky person. it is from my personal experience

NextDent 5100 looks like an amazing printer. I went with Asiga Max based on our projected volume in the next year or two. Asiga Max can use NextDent resins and can place on a tabletop (if space is an issue?). Perhaps if our volume grows, NextDent 5100 will be a great fit or maybe the Asiga Pro. I dunno, see how it goes
