Hey guys can some one enlighten me on 3shape I have a client that would like to purchase a 3shape Trios scanner. I have exocad am I able to open his files or do I have to buy 3shape software. Can some one explain to me the actual procedure from Intra Oral Scan to receiving the digital file and milling. Does the file get sent to me directly or does it go to a third party operator who then send the file to me. How long does this take.

yes you absolutely should. and then stock up on USB cables because you'll go through them like candy.

these models just decide one day that your cable doesnt work and will cease operating until you change it.

What intraoral scanner do you recommend?
What is the price for a dentist to be completely set-up and ready to send files with your recommendation? including software, computer, etc...

i'd expect to spend 50-60k tops and you would be setup to send anywhere you want.

you only need a trios. it does come with its own computer but if for some reason you want to install it to your network in office that's fine too. handshake to your lab with 3shape communicate, and you're off to the races.

but if you can fanagle a trios for low cost then go ahead. theres really nothing wrong with a monochrome gen 1 trios, as very often i find it easier to place a margin by turning the colour overlay off.

40K will get you everything complete however I can do it for much less.

ya i agree the 3500 was not good at all. the 3600 is a completely different scanner. when I was at the CDA the 3600 sold like crazy. I agree the trios 3 is the best quality on the market. But 40k up front with 2,500 annual fees for the trios not including if you want dental designer and implant module is a hefty price. after 5 years the 40k turns into $52,500 not including financing interest if you financed. I'm not saying that the trios isnt a good option, just saying there are other options. And with the industry moving toward no annual fees, 3 Shape seems to be still charging.

The carestream design software isn't that great, I agree. the 3600 exports an STL file, you can export to an Exocad design software and design there.

3500 was horrible even with a good operator. 3600 has been better. we receive files from both scanners here.
