Hello everyone,

I have a question. I was looking for a new dental scanner and got two options in front of me right now after my comparison.

The ones that I prefer are:

  • Identica blue / hybrid

  • Smart optics Activity 885

My question is, can I use a 3D Scanner that was designed for another industry then dentistry for scanning my models and other instruments with the same precision, axis control and nice resolution for a better price?

Interesting question, I have a scanner but am by no means an expert compared to some of the guys on here.....I'm sure they will be along soon.

But I would have thought that if you could, then we would be doing exactly that already.

All scanners are not created equal. Make sure you research the hell out of something before you commit.

If you have enough money Atos triple scan a bit cheaper from the Korean girls

I would buy a dental scanner.Probably a Trios handheld.

What are trying to scan and in how much detail/micron accuracy? The scanner is often tied into dental software which will serve no purpose.
Here are two that are not dental and are reasonable priced - can't claim how accurate they will be - one is NextEngine which has been around for years and this one with a built in turntable looks interesting -

Hello. I have a smartoptics Activity 885 scanner and I don’t have the software for scanner. Can someone help me please. Regards

It is always cheaper to buy right the first time.
