    3shape splint studio

We have CR and we get Splint Studio. For presets, we did a few test cases with people in the lab until we were happy with the fit/retention. I think the default settings have zero retention.

    How would you scan this?

Yeah, we heard this originally from a dentist with a scanner and I adapted it to lab workflow. We get a few cases done like this straight from IOS, but most partial cases that come to the lab are traditional impressions.

    How would you scan this?

I use TRIOS for cases like this. Scan without partial, lock prep and contacts, add partial, scan it in place, then scan relevant interfaces just with the partial in hand. This way getting clasps and other features is pretty simple. This way when designing, you have distance heatmaps and cutting...

    3shape splint studio

Splint Studio is a massive improvement from pre-2019. It works off of Dental Desktop, alongside Smile Designer and has similar UI. We're doing all of our splints in Splint Studio, and printing them with KeySplint resin (the resin isn't FDA cleared either, but available in EU and Canada).

    Trios scanner and marking margins

I encourage them not to mark the margin. If it needed adjustment, at least earlier versions of 3Shape made it tricky to ignore the doctor marked line and follow your own. I've yet to see a marked margin that was entirely where it needed to be coming from the dr.

    3Shape Modelbuilder question

Go to Virtual Trim settings under "Dies", and select "Ditch and Trim Model". That will do it. Settings that affect the size of the ditch are also under dies. Experiment until you get what you need.

Upgrading to 2.18.1.0 Dental System for 3Shape

Running 18.2 now - I noticed changes to die interface settings (die spacer, drill comp etc.) after bringing original design back in for adjustment won't actually take hold unless you do reconnect to margin in design stage. It looks like it works in the interfaces step, but it actually won't...

Upgrading to 2.18.1.0 Dental System for 3Shape

I refrained from 2.17.3, still running 2.17.2 - planning on updating to 2018 in the next couple weeks. We've rarely gotten badly burnt (waited a long time with 2015 too).

    Itero Delays?

Yeah. They will still do their "cleanup" and "margin marking". Some of ours were running more than a week late.

    Itero Delays?

This is especially frustrating since we don't need them to do anything to the scans coming to us - we just grab the STL when it comes, clean it up, mark the margins and print the model ourselves. So they're stuck with iTero, getting work done that benefits no one.

    3Shape 17.3.0

So far sticking with 17.2.1 sounds pretty good idea.

    3Shape 17.3.0

Supposedly, 17.3 has some added stability with Windows 10 updates, not listed in the What's New document. I'm still running 17.2.1, the other listed improvements in 17.3 don't seem to be appetizing enough.

FormLab Form 2 vs. Asiga Max

Form2 success is, to some extent, a lottery. I have one that's producing very good dies, but accuracy falls off to unacceptable on models. I've heard from many who struggle with everything they try to make. And I know some have success with their models too.

    3shape dental manager slowwwww

Mine's running up to date Win 10 and 17.2.1 with no ill effects. Lately some Win 10 updates have caused network issues, but not for us this time around.

    C&B Models + Printing

I do believe there's a lot of individual variation between Form2's. Ours seems to be pretty good. Many others need to tweak theirs to get it right.

    C&B Models + Printing

Some would fit okay, nice and snug, some would end up too loose. The issues were never consistent.

    C&B Models + Printing

We have 260VS (670) and Form2 (model v1) and we gave up on removable dies in the models. We just print solid with a ditch around margin, and a separate die.

    Printing models from Sirona/Cerec Scans?

The STLs you get out of Cerec Scans are pretty much as good as they are in their proprietary format. The scans themselves tend to be a bit on smooth/soft side, and that's what you get to your STLs too. We export to stl, put it through 3Shape Model Builder like everything else and print...

stratasys model cleaning tips or tricks?

Not from the soaks. I think we had some issues when it was soak with ultrasonic from the heat. Adding to ratio and cutting down time might not be a bad idea.

stratasys model cleaning tips or tricks?

Our process with SUP705: - Soak in water (1h -> over the weekend, the longer the better) - WaterJet - 1h soak in Sodium Hydroxide (15%) bath - WaterJet - 30 min soak in Sodium Hydroxide - WaterJet Use proper Sodium Hydroxide. If you have Stratasys WaterWorks, you need much, much higher powder...
