I think you hit the nail right on the head. I probably focused a little *too* much on model work last year which cost me in time, but the marks did show for the neat work. I'll be sure to keep the lingual and buccal tilt in mind when setting the teeth!
It is "balanced" but the incisal pin lifts off of the platform rather than being guided by it. I'm probably being pedantic, but I don't want to lose marks unnecessarily.
For the mandibular setup I start with the first molars on either side and work my way forward to the canines, set the lower...
Thank you for the suggestion! I really appreciate it, doesn't come off as mean at all. You're probably right that I'm diving a bit too deep into the rabbit hole and causing more frustration for myself. Unfortunately, there were no examiner remarks, just a mark sheet.
Working and balancing...
Yes, I saw that in the literature, and thanks for the link to the textbook,
I've set the anterio-posterior angle to 30, but for some reason, all my setups seem to only achieve working and balancing contact at a slope of 5 degrees for the lateral wings. Flat wings results in teeth knocking and...
This is the starter kit that I was fortunate enough to have picked up by chance for $20 off ebay last year. It was expired but worked perfectly for what I needed. Used it to make one appliance already. I think it'll be enough for another schwartz appliance? (Palatal expander)
Hi everyone!
Been studying away for my second attempt at practical exams coming up soon.
Last year, I was using a Hanau-Mate average value articulator and I think that contributed to my inability to pass.
A generous denturist friend of mine has been kind enough to lend me a Stratos 300 with...
Thanks everyone for the offers! I really appreciate it.:) I think I have enough for the exam though. Just wanted some as a backup just in case something goes horribly wrong and I have to start over mid-examBeer
Thanks guys! Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy some more expensive Dentsply Ortho Resin then:arghh:
The last thing I need for an exam that I'm repeating is another unknown variable for the sake of saving some money.
Does anybody know roughly how many grams of acrylic powder I...
Hi, I'm sitting my BC RDT practical exam at the end of July and I have a Dentsply Orthodontic Resin Kit that I used last year to make ortho appliances. Not sure if I'm going to have enough powder and monomer to practice and for the final exam.
My question is, if I can find a cheaper brand...
Hey guys,
I'm curious about having some fun with old equipment. I have a chance to pick up an old Straumann CS2 Scanner for next to nothing so I figured it might be a neat little project. I'm not very familiar with the how the Straumann scanner works, but I heard that it was compatible with...
The local college where the exams are being held does have some limited equipment on hand that they 'may' allow candidates to use from the info package I received. I've tried giving the program coordinator a call to arrange something ahead of time without much success getting through. I'd rather...
Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I'm planning on challenging my RDT practical exam this summer and need to ship a bunch of stuff across the country from Ontario, Canada to British Columbia. The two heaviest items are a porcelain furnace and a burnout furnace.
I need to find the...
Yeah those are unique scan bodies from 5-axis dental for digital impression implants. Unfortunately, 5-axis charges through the roof for you to license their software package. Hope this helps.
