We're redoing an implant bridge from a well known national lab. This is what came to the doc from them. There is no length to the insert on the abutment and ( I know it's a blurry pic) there is porcelain fired to the interface. It is a straumann implant. the interface is non-existant. It never made it out of the receiving area at the doctors' office. No patient was placed in harms way.

are you still using your 2003 flip phone?

oddly enough, this isnt nearly the worst we have seen come through from these nationally-known labs. did you happen to ask the Dr why they are sending to that lab to begin with?

Yes, Their then current lab ( I don't know who)couldn't get their work done on time. I have an old friend who is an assistant in their. she recommended us. I think we can get this straightened out in short order.

Implant bridge probably didn't have path of insertion being screw retained...polished a internal hex off.

My favorite is the diverging bridge with engaging implants.

One of my specialists sent thus photo to me. One of the docs they placed for used a "Natuonally" known lab. This is what they got.

I am obviously putting way to much time and effort into my implant cases....
You and I both, non-engaging still has a few mm's that goes into the internal hex most of the time...it just doesn't have the flat hex engaging sides, it's smaller and cylindrical usually. It's been awhile, but I don't think i've ever just cut the entire internal connection off, polishing the flat hex to be round usually does the trick just fine making the path of insertion good to go. I guess this is why I'm seeing implant sales going up in my lab. Keep up the great marketing campaign for me National Dental Labs ;)

Yeah. I've seen people adjust the hex down to leave a smooth cylinder but to totally cut the interface off... That should have simply been a cement retained bridge.

Our implant department is outsized for the size of our lab :)
