Hi

I hope somebody can help, I've just starting using a biostar, I had been making a lot of Essix's through vacuum pulldown.

Is it best to use a plastic foil separator when using the biostar for Essix and aligners?

Im worried my current doctors will find the biostar Essix to tight or (loose with the plastic foil separator) compared to the vacuum formed Essix they've been receiving the last few years.

Thanks in advance,

The purpose of the foil separator is to make it easier to remove the formed sheet from the model. Depending on the thickness of the foil, it will add a little to the outer dimensions of the model, so might affect the teeth adaptation of the formed appliance. Try using a simple release spray of liquid Ivory soap and water, a 50/50 mixture. Using a plastic bottle, lightly spray this solution on the model and wait 10-15 mns so the soap is dry to the touch. I use this and it makes it easier to remove the formed appliance from the model.

You can also mix tinfoil sub with water 50/50.
