Straumann has been milling some custom abutments for me lately .

      I've also tried their zirconia.

I have to say that the quality has been consistently sub par at best.

The shades a very poor .A2 looks closer to A4 which is unacceptable.

However the custom milled abutments have to be the worst I have seen. I'm no expert on milling but the tool marks are coarse with gouges. They are very dirty with residual metal flakes in concave areas and unpolished.

I have used Argen in the past and find their abutments cleaner and well polished with retentive grooves.

Did I mention the price for an original Straumann abutment is $45 dollars more?

Maybe you would be better off doing Straumann custom abutments with castable UCLA type and pass on their CAD offerings??

The only time I use Straumann is when I need a zirconia for a synocta. Atlantis stuff is just better in my opinion.

They publish these glossy reports on the merits of their original products, send their army of reps to diss labs that use 3rd party components, and threaten to void warranties.

But when it comes to walking the walk, they trip over their laces.

I'm more pissed than a Russian hotel mattress !

I don't mind Straumann Ti abutments at all.. no issues here.
I can even copy the design and reuse it to do a crown over abutment before it even arrives.. the fit is always exceptional, as it is with Tru abutment and Argen..
Nobel, on the other hand, suck ass on every level (for us)

yes, the cost difference is there.. but we get a lot of business from the reps

I haven't noticed a drop in Straumann quality, and wouldn't call the Ti abutments sub par. i'm curious as to how many milling centers they have, or why there is such a difference.. I have no experience with other Straumann materials

Ti bases are ok for tissue level synoctas but for bone level or when the sturgeon places a synocta at bone level then You have to customize the emergence.
