So I just wanted to share a little trick I do on Sum3D that has been of help quite a few times in the past. We have two mills a iMes iCore 340 and the DWX-50 Roland. Now the other day the 340 went out due to a broken bur on the zirconia tools so I had to cut a calibration block to measure it and I was out of wax disks on the 340. So I took on from the Roland side and cut out out of there on the iCore CAM software. Now that doesn't show up on Sum3D, so now what? I am sure you can do this with other CAM software as well. I scrolled the screen out till it was the size of the puck and aligned them up and nested my files around the cut from the 340 like so.

I didn't take a photo of the puck before hand but here is the puck aligned to the screen after the cut.

Look at how close the outline on sum3d the magenta lines are to the actual cut, at one point in scrolling out it will identical to the puck, this is were you would move the new files around the non existing cut so you don't waste much material. The camera angle shows the lines are off a bit but in real life they are spot on.

The puck alone, after the cut.

Note: that square ish cut is what was cammed on the Icore software but in a puck from the Roland cam on sum3D.

The Sum3D screen where you can see the missing cut from the 340,

This is the final placement after measuring a few times with the puck to the screen, I could of gotten much closer but its was, its cheap, blah blah blah.

A close up

The one cut the size of a molar just to the left of the open space was done blindly, guessing where to place it, before my brain remembered I could align it to the screen, DUH!

Now I think other cams can do this, I only use Icore and Sum3D and the iCore really doesn't do that well, it puts you close but you still have a guess factor there, but I know for a fact on Sum3D you are 1:1 with the screen and the puck, pretty awesome. This comes in handy when you accidentally delete a puck file and empty you recycling bin, it's happened. Or you cammed a puck and accidentally milled it out in another puck, es we are human and it does happened. Of if you run two machine and one takes a dive and you need to use the other machines puck. Now always remember that that space is used, dont place another file there and cam it you will hit yourself for doing so. LOL

Just thought I would put this out for all my Sum3D users just in case you didn't know this.
