Hello everybody!
I'm interested to buy a metal milling machine in 5 axis. What could you recommend and why?
Does anybody know anything about the Datron milling machine?
Thank you!

DMG Ultrasonic 20 if you have the room,

or the 10 (smaller version)

Less tool-wear and tear during ultrasonic milling (rough-cutting)
Faster feedrate possible as well. The Ultrasonic mode is cut off for the fine detail milling inside the crown.

If the mill has work for five years, you will make your money back for that upgrade and then some. Cutting ceramics is cheaper and faster as well for same reason.

Mikron and Roeders have similar models. Linear magnetic drives in most axis, not ball-screw stuff that develops slop after years. Wet or Dry milling. Endless options and upgrades! Full automation options, and robots etc.

Origin has nice in-lab machine options. If you have too much money, go for DMG or Roeders.

Have you worked with the DMG units? If so, for how long and what are your impressions of the system?

90% of what we mill in the lab industry is milled in 4 axis. Why do 5? Custom abutments may be one reason if you can find a know-how on this process. 3 interchangeable files are not the easiest to accomplish.

5x can save you a lot of money........which 4x can't.
