House passes bill repealing medical device tax:
The House recently passed a bill, H.R.160, repealing the 2.3% medical device tax component of the Affordable Care Act. You may recall that this 2.3% tax is an excise tax on the sale of any taxable medical device by a manufacturer, producer, or importer. The tax is meant to help pay for Obamacare but opponents claim it stifles innovation and research. The legislation has been sent to the Senate for consideration. President Obama has threatened to veto this piece of legislation.
