i just purchased a condor intaoral scanner and one of my labs uses 3shape. they are not sure how to import my open stl scans into the 3shape model builder program without buying some "stl import module".
is this true and if so is there a way around it?

thanks!!

You need model builder stl and you will be able to accept files from almost any scanner. It is a separate module.

Sadly it is true, i have tried every possible way and no way around it. But luckily for your lab 3shape dropped the prices so the all scan model builder is 5400 and 950a year, if i was them I would hop on it if it makes sense for them. But if your their only client I wouldn't do it just for one doc if I was them. It is what it is.

What if converting STL's into DCM, then trying to import?

I think that for that price it's better buying a basic Exocad software to avoid dcm

I have tried import stl into 3shape then it will convert it to dcm then taking those dcm file and importing into a new oder and still it knows it was a stl file. They really did a great job on that part of the software.

Also there is no software that takes a stl to dcm.

It knows because it's written in the code of the file. No way of getting around it since they're all encrypted files.

Sorry....you'll have to purchase the Model Builder STL like everyone else has.

This is exactly what me and mark were talking about.

Looks like 3Shape to me.
Just an Exo guy here...I'm not a 3shape expert, how do I suppose to know ? It well could be a DICOM export from an STL for whatever purpose...who knows... :D
