How do you calculate gold weight before casting. I have milled a wax crown and the dentist want's to know the alloy price before casting.

Weigh the wax and then multiply by the specific gravity of the alloy. Then add some grains for casting and finishing loss.

Be sure to tell him it's a reasonable estimate and not a quote.
