May I use the ALOX plungers I already have to press the MULTI Ingots?
Does it fit the new ring formers plunger hole?
Thanks.

You need to use the ALOX plunger you have along with the disposable one in the kit (so both plungers together)......at least thats what we have been doing for the past few months.

And yes the new ring formers have the same sized hole.

Have you used the Multi's yet? Got to say I love them.

Both plungers together? Huh? Wha?
For reals? I am balancing two plungers on top of each other?
So I need to order the 50pc disposable plungers for the Multi? Are they short lil plungers that go in before the ALOX plunger does?
What is this sorcery?

Ok I watched the video. That makes perfect sense. A lil plunger with the correct CTE is needed for Multi.

Am I only one put off by this multi technique because I don't desire recontouring the entire mesial or entire distal of an anterior crown after press?
Has anyone tried to sprue these multi's on the lingual?

I just wish Ivoclar would put more QC into their expensive shade guides.
Friggin things break easily but you can't buy just one replacement tab.

You can put them in more "advantageous" places, but are constrained by the flow and ring size- use the ring guide (seriously) until you know the placement well. I now place the sprues on lobes that are not in contact areas and are more easily re-contoured, but always mindful of the rules. Your alox plungers should come out clean as the ring cools.

I hate the figure 8 design (on some of them),with 1/2 the tabs being on top, and the other 1/2 being on the bottom..I don't even use those.

Sounds like you've got it.

The spruing is a bit fiddly to start with but you soon get used to it and I don't find the re -contouring much of a hastle.....takes a little longer but the overall time saving makes up for this.

It's actually not about the CTE, but the length of the plunger channel. With the Multi if you only used the ALOX plunger you would only be able to press half the ingot as the ALOX plunger would become flush with the mold.

Please don't do this, you definitely won't be happy. The reason we place the sprue where we do is so the material can flow around the crown and not be disrupted by the prep. Smaller preps will break due to the lateral pressure you put on it. If it doesn't break the flow will be disrupted and cause the different translucency levels to mix, giving you a tie-dyed crown. Also, you will notice on most posteriors ( I haven't seen it on any anteriors) where the material meets you get a low value line, on all my pressings it always ends up just lingual to sprue, if the sprue were placed elsewhere, who knows where it would end up (buccal wall)?
