im using a twin arm flash as well, works great.

Im not sure it would be worth the cost of an upgrade for someone who already has a good ring flash as i was getting great results with that also.

The dual flash has 2 flashes, one on either side of the lens.

The main difference I see is the flash hits either side of cusps making them stand out more 3D rather than looking like a flat occlusal surface.
Same with anteriors they seem to look more individual.

Also the flash is more indirect so it is easier to pick up translucency.

With the ring flash I really have to work the angles to get the light to reflect correctly, and buccals and linguals of posteriors dont photo well (for me) with the ring flash.

These are with the ring flash.

Absolutly beautiful! You are my benchmark Al.

The side arm flash really brings out the incisal translucency as you say.

These pictures are the best learning tool we have to work with.

Thankyou.:hail::hail::hail:

as indicated

Great eye Tom. Would you mind sharing how to fix it? Please do give us a solution; I may have the same problem. ;):Dpopcorn

BTW Al. I dont see no bloddy dust. Dust or no dust; great work as usual Thanks for sharing your technique. I think some one needs to get their eyes checked for dust. I'm sure the ophthalmologist will find spots on the lower rightquad of the pupil or; maybe Tom has stardust in his eyes for you, and just has a hard time expressing love for your work. One things for sure hes watching very closely.

Hes right it is dust and it drives me crazy.
I dont know how to get it off because it is inside the cam not on the lens.

I heard from some body else it was probably on the sensor,
Ill get my instruction book and see if it is on there anywhere how to clean it.

Al., I was speaking to a photographer yesterday and was advised to use a bulb syringe for cleaning. Never, I repeat never use compressed air even from a can. You can cause serious damage doing this.

I called them he was out of town but I talked to a guy on the phone.
He said the arms were on back order.

He (Photomed) wants around $850 for the flash. Canon asks $750 for it on their site and Amazon wanted $650 for it.
I got it from Amazon, it was around $720 after tax and shipping.

The only place to get that telescoping mount is from photomed.

This just barly or loosely fits on to the sigma lens, Canon has a adapter that screws on to make it fit for $40+ shipping but I think I am going to hold out and get photomeds telescoping mounting setup but that thing is almost $300 and I dont know if it is worth it, I think they make filters you can put over the flash to do the same thing?

I have one of those for the microscope, I need to find where and what the sensor is.

Al, curious to know if you've experimented with light colours and with natural lighting. And also filters. The teeth always seem to have different vitality according to the light that bathes them. My son does filming work and has a specific interest in lighting effects. He's gonna be doing some work for me soon to help with promotional stuff, so we're investigating the finer points of capturing beauty/naturalness.

BTW - Eagle eyes there Tom
