Do you still break the glaze before external staining?

I understand the newer ceramics are formulated differently (Like Omega/Creation) and
you no longer, but just felt best to use old school technique to make sure there is no
pooling/blotching . . .
Theoretically, if you have a thin even film, it should not pool or become blotches,
esp. if you mix the powders in evenly.

I usually don't get to the point of staining on a glaze, it's always after my bake and contouring. Otherwise as for myself, I do find it easier to lightly sand blast the surface to help relive the surface tension if I needed to do a bit of a stain/glaze touch up.

Thanks, looks like we are still doing that surface tension modification even with the newer ceramics.
