I'm curious why she thought sending it to someone who wasn't local was a good idea?

I don't get that.
Probably thinking that you get better boob jobs if you go to hollywood type of thing.

Have dentist up charge 10% and send one model to glidewell and do one yourself.. The 10% will cover GWs fee Laugh and then she can decide who is better.. Rofl

I had a simile case recently , and explained that exact tissue matching is almost impossible . Heck , I am not Jungo Endo !!

Anyway , I explained the doc that te only way to have exact match is to finish it himself with composite after I finish the bridge like Galip Gurel has shown .

In the end it wasn't needed , but I explained from the beginning that porcelain tissue has limited results for exact match with natural gingiva .
