If you got the loot, go for it. As for me, I'd just make my own, nothing like some 2x4's, 1" OSB, and some nice tile or laminate. Please let us know what type of benches you're thinking about, maybe shoot us a link? I'm curious what you decide and why.

Im thinking in buying laboratory metal cabinets and using laminate on to or
epoxy tops, since I have a small lab , It might not turn out to expensive. I found some manufacture places in monterrey Mexico they fabricate the metal cabinets sodl here in the usa by some laboratory furniture places. I havnt got any prices yet , but im supouse to go this month to take a look at them and will post pictures and prices of what I find. Have you thought about a combination of materials?
I have stainless steel by the sink. (previous owner) some laminate, but I also bought a couple of excess Corian pieces. I went to the actual manufacturer and asked him about left over, scraps and rejects. I got two unmatched pieces but the price was right and they are in seprate rooms, so match didn't matter. Corian holds up great and cleans easily, as well as being heat proof. One piece is near the boil out unit and I place the hot flasks down with no issue. Like the lab guy we just built a table with 2x4's, I don't have drawers or cabinets under bench but you could do that easily enough. |
