Default Bacteria? around gumline on new crowns

Question: My all porcelin crowns are about three months old & turning black at the gumline. The Dr. said it was bacteria & wanted to pull up my gums, scrape the bacteria out & fill the gap with composite. Should the crowns be replaced for optimal & safest results?
