OK Guys What pressure pot are you guys using?
Did you build it or buy and official dental lab one? Personaly I build one, My second one. The first one held out for 5 years before the main gasket went out. Went ahead and build a new one using a 6 quart (bigger) pot from walmart ($40) this time. Build it earlier this year. I though earlier this week that gasket went out on it too. Scared the Pee out of my wife when it did!! She yelled at me and told me to buy an official dental lab one. Not wanting to spend $400 on one (compared to the $50 dollar one) I was able to fix mine. Turns out the pressure gauge stopped working and I accidentally put in 60 lb of pressure! THat will make any gasket go! Anyway, got a new pressure gauge took a hammer to the locking lip of the lib and presto! (pun intended) works like a champ again. Even bought a thermometer while I was at it, so the water wouldn't get too hot. The wife still wants me to invest in a new one, I have to admit the on from GL looks pretty nice! I called and the can sell me a used (refurbished) for $350 Just wanted to know what you guys think? Cade |

I have been using my pressure pot for 8 years now. I purchased it from a doctor that I used to work for and they had purchased it 12 years ago. It works fine, the only think is my husband had to put a regulator on it because it tended to get to much pressure build up. That does scare the @%^* out of you. I would probably by a refurbished one and just get it over with so you don't have to monkey with building your own.
my 2 cents, trisha |

Buy the one from GL.
I have 2, one large, one small. Large one will hold a sam articulator for a grand poo bah split. It's like this, The major overhead is your time and skill. The goodies you use to produce your product should be the best out there. (and something safe as well) Listen, you want to makw a living? You will be as fast as possible and still produce quality after about 10 years fo working with the best equipment. Time spent saving a few hundred dollars is wasted, time saved by using the best stuff is a better pay off than fiddleing around with to much R and D. I like the steamer idea, tried that Shark steamer. Thanks Trisha I read your reply. Thing is, I just used it on 2 Bionators, not strong enough. Thing is o.k. for de-waxing springs or a little on rets. but I'm going to get one of the spendy ones next year. In that time I'll probably go through a couple or so of these little guys. I had a hard time dropping hundreds on a steamer when I was happy with my boil-out technique. Thanks to Trisha... I now need to spend more money!! Thing is, it's a worth while investment to have this stuff. It may only save a minute here or there, but after 38 years, I'll take what I can get when it comes along. Also, do the math. You save 1 minute a day, how long does it take to break even? As an example. |

It look good anyway even better than the one("foreign" made, please understand "..."means) sale on Ebay. Sound like this pressure pot busted cause its shield might not stand hi-pressure!? Most shields are made out of rubber compound. Special rubber to be used for pressure pot when it mass constant changing under heat and pressure. Your first home build last 5 years but the Walmart one only last 1 year. I suspected the WM gasket is made out of poor quality "foreign" stuff. I trusted products made in the USA, European, Canada, Japan and sorry donot trust others. Thanks you guys for the thread. This every things are good to know Webside teach me alot.
