Default CBCT: the wave of the future??

SO I have been doing some research into the technology side of orthodontics and starting hearing the buzz about cbct: cone beam ct scans. They give the doctor the ability to take 3d images with a very low amount of radiation exposure to the patient.

As far as application goes, I spoke with a doctor who says that it will give them the ability to have precise imagery, import into software to manipulate and move teeth, and also act as their producer of digital study models all in one. As far as digital impression taking, could this be the answer?? or will the wand technique be it?

I know that orthoproof, a digital study model company is using the tech for inputting the impressions and transforming them into the digital models. Not sure how and why, with other smaller scanners available, considering the machine is in the 200-300G range. Now thats a lota cheddar.

You guys heard about this? What do you see in the future?
