Hi everyone, Im Cade and I have owned a ortho lab here in Texas for about 4 years now. My wife Sara joined me full time at the beginning of 2007. She now takes care of the books and I take care of the wire bending. She is now known as "The Enforcer"
We have a young one, a 19 month old son named Sawyer.I have just launched (Oct 2007) a free website where kids can design their own retainer at Start Designing Your Orthodontic Retainer! Start Designing Your Orthodontic Retainer! Its is also free for labs to use with their doctors (that is way I designed it). It is still "buggy" and there is a lot more information to add, but it also has a forum if you have an ortho lab question. BTW, broadband connection highly recommended, with over 6400 color combinations for one retainer it takes awhile to load the images the first time you open the site. Looking foward to talking to you all soon on this forum, i just hope I get my retainers done! Cade Tippett, CDT Last edited by RetainerDesigner : 10-18-2007 at 03:21 PM. Reason: url bad |

I have been on my own for two years now, lots of ups and downs. How is this site for your dial up is it good or bad?

Have you been able to figure out a nice balance for your workload? I dread calling on new accounts as I am not a salesman. Hopefully I can continue with the practices that I work with. trisha ![]() |

I am glad this works for your dial up, the classifieds might slow it down a bit.
I use my last name as my labs name, I kept it simple. Quote:
I got two crowns last week so I have this week to look for another account. One of my primary accounts moved to New York and became a pediatric dentist. So I have one account now that does about 10 units a week it keeps me busy. Its week by week just like you. I guess it makes it interesting. |

Travis,
When do you find time to work on this web site? I know with me my website could easily eat up a whole day. I usually I wait till Friday, no dentists work on Friday = nothing due. BTW, we should start a frapper to see where everyone is located. Visitor Map, MySpace Map, Frappr Map - The most social maps on the Web. |

I work on it through out the day. I work from home so when I take breaks I go online. That frapper looks pretty complicated, I will look into it. It would be a nice addition.

I think that is so cool that there is a retainer lab. I know patients have retainers I just take for granted where they come from. I can not imagine how hard it is so work with all the colors of retainers that kids have now. When I had a retainer we got to choose from blue or green, now kids come in with swirls and sparkles that glow in the dark, that is too neat. Well more power to you and all that you do.
