I think the web site is GREAT. I use Astromart very regularly and find it VERY easy to use. Maybe you could find some ideas there.

I wanted to have a clean looking site. I didn't want to get too deep into this because I don't know if there is a demand for it. What else would people like to see?

Thanks for the input.

Travis,
I have been starting to understand more of the web site now that I have been using it. I really like the way pictures are attached to the posts. The only thing I can think of that I dislike is not being able to reply to a specific posting; rather the reply finds its way to the end of the thread. Does that make sense?

Your saying the post you just made is now at the bottom of the thread? You can change that in your user cp settings, change ascending to descending.

Or are you wanting to quoting something? You can quote a post or parts of posts buy hitting the quote button under the post you want to refer to.

Travis,
You were right about the CP settings. All I had to do is change to Threaded view of the postings and it worked. My problem is I'm so use to Astromart. I'm starting to understand now.....

I'm not a big fan of php, but it has it's uses, I'm just happy to see Lab techs talking in the cyber world, thought for awhile you all didn't know what a computer was....lol Keep up the hard work, it's definetly appreciated.

Travis, have you ever thought about not making the forums public, that way people would have to register before they could enter to read/post.........I only bring this up because I just noticed you have 7 members and 25 guests online. It would force the guests to register and become members...just an idea.

Alot of the guests are bots from google and yahoo. I do have a mod setup were visitors can only view 4 or 5 threads until they have to registering to view more. The lab talk forums are all private and also the polls.

A couple new things I am working on are a photo album for pictures
Dental Lab Network - PhotoPlog - Gallery
and a review section for members to post reviews on products.

Also anticipating vbulletin 3.7.0 which is in beta right now but has alot of cool features and I will upgrade once available for use.

If I made the forums private Google and the other search engines would not be able to index (search) the pages. Google can only see what a guest can see. So the more content and bigger it gets the more the bots scan and index more of the site and more keywords searches shows this site (more people).

YOU NEED TO GET IT OUT THERE!!!!!

Put an ad in LMT for a couple months (I know it's expensive but if the hits come on the site you will get some advertisers' attention!)

Also in the big Dental Journal (whatever it's called)

I would go with the:

LABS AVAILABLE

LABS NEEDED

for both lab techs AND DENTISTS to respond.

I'd be interested in a ground level opportunity!!!

I had a free add put in LMT alittle over a year ago which brought alot of people. I have been wanting to put a three month add in LMT, I just havent got around to it. Iam still unsure on what key points I want to make in the add. I think the biggest sell point are the free classifieds.

Dental journal is a dentist base mag.
How would I market to them?

They could fish here for information on how procedures are done...

ANONOMOUSLYtroubleshoot problems they are having with appliances, fixed work,etc...

Look at the lab that gave them an answer to their problem...

Locate labs...

And most importantly....

They can come here to Vent.

A wise old Dentist once asked me if he could have his office pour up impressions. "Sure" I replied... "But why?" I asked.

"Do you know what happens when you have a bunch of women standing around with nothing to do?" He asked.

"They fight." He said in all seriousness.

What I'm getting at is that guy dentists are surrounded all day for the most part by women and they do not discuss problems with other dentists out of vanity.

This may be a place for them to just come and hide .
