YEAH YEAH!!! FREE TIME!!!!

Clearly I don't take enough time off. Stuck on putting away for retirement. Must have about 50 cases of Alpo set aside.
But... yesterday,7/17, man what a nice day off. Linda and I went up to Frank White's place (he is training my new horse Starlet) and got to ride Starlet half the day!! What a blast!! The 3 year old is acting like a 5 year old in temperment. Her gate at the flat foot walk is awesome, also her running walk.
Rear foot over stride of the front is right about 24 inches! She is a big girl as well, she's 16 hands. What a blast, can't say enough.
Then we went to where the mini horse is being trained. Breezie, nice little mare. She has taken to pulling the cart and does an excellent job!! Trainer put an excellent "Whoa" on her, stops on a dime.
These 2 things all in one day! What a complete blast. I could wet myself!!
Yes Rob, don't I usually fall apart at the end?

Good for you Mike, you need to do that once in awhile. Do you think when you retire you'll be able to stop working? It's hard to just stop when you work as hard as you do. I know, you'll probably be out in the shed looking up.

I don't think I'll ever stop working in the lab completely. I will slow it down and work just for drs in town. Looking at a max of 10 years more before I do that.

Glad you got a free day. Sounds like your horses are coming along well. You might as well enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Retirement-11 1/2 years, if all goes as planned. Then I can dedicate my time to more volunteer work and traveling North America with my honey. Thats the plan. Otherwise I won't get much time with my "old man".

Are those buggies fun to ride? Could they pull both of you together?

I am guessing the horses size would limit the speed.

Yup. Fun stuff. We each have a cart and a horse. It would probably be to much for 1 horse. There is a place out there that makes buckboard wagons for 2 minis. Maybe some day we'll try that.
Cart in this picture is the trainers cart. We have 1 easy entry something like it, and 1 show cart.
We just picked up Breezie form the trainer Sunday. Starrie here sister is glad to see her home. We'' be taking them to the Lane County fair in 2 weeks for showing with their carts.

Fair Update

Linda stayed at the fair for a week in our mobile. Made work all that much more fun!!
I did get down there 3 times. Problem was the heat we had for that week. Everyone was just hiding out in their mobiles with the AC cranked.
Any how, still was a bit of fun.
Breeze horse, one in the pictures above, won Grand Champion Mini Mare out of 12 other horses. She is pretty. Starrie her sister got second.
Breeze and I got first place in the driving class. Starrie was second again. They are great little horses, we love them both.
It is great fun to have these little guys to drive carts with, and the 2 big guys to ride.
Linda and I are so very lucky to have these guys!!
