Default What Lab software are you guys using ?

My wife, the bookkeeper, was curious if actual dental lab software makes a difference. As for us we use Apple computers so there is not much of a selection , or none at all, in that category. We use MYOB first edge for our invoices, its like Microsoft Money or Quickbooks. Now that Macintosh computers run windows natively I will be looking for lab software when we up-grade our computers.
Just wanted to know ya'lls opinions on the matter.

Thanks
Cade

Hi,

While we were still in the process of building our lab, I received many lab software trials. If you are outgrowing your current program, I highly recommend that you demo "Lab Manager" by Lab Systems Group Laboratory Systems Group, Inc. - Dental Laboratory Software Or you can call Mandi 800-677-1120 .This was the program that I liked, their prices are very reasonable. (approx $300-$600) The program just offered more than I needed right now for our business. Being that we are new, I found that Quickbooks works the best for our situation. I have customized my invoices and statements, I can keep track of inventory, and do all of my banking with the one program. They also have a version for Mac. Our friend is a new ortho lab and he uses Quickbooks also.

Hope this helps,
Kat

I think my next pc will be a mac, anyway my wife does my books and we use quickbooks pro. I don't have the volume to utilize those programs like "Lab Manager". Quickbooks does great job on invoices and setting up all your accounts. Katrina said it best.

Interesting... I thought I was the only lab NOT using lab software. From what you guys are saying if your small stick with a Quickbooks type program. (which MYOB is) And if you get bigger move to a more powerful program. Sounds reasonable.
There is one Dental lab software company that integrates into Quickbooks, anyone know that one? Or have experiance with it?
BTW, Travis I believe quicken is a stripped down version of Quickbooks. I got a free copy with my iMac and used it manily for my checking account.

The Lab Manager program that I mentioned was supposed to release an interface for Quickbooks this fall. Not sure if it's come out yet.

The Quicken software that I use is for home and business. I doubt it has all the bells and whistles that Quickbooks has. This accounting software fits fine for my small business, I have been using it since 2000. Since I have only a handful of accts. special lab software would be overkill in my case.
